Catalogue Home
In bygone days you could order your home from the Sears catalogue. This is a version from 1925. It's in the village of Versailles, Illinois.

A beautiful Home Sweet Home Martie! I like these wooden houses. I had a look on Versailles site on the net, your are located at about 100 miles from St Louis (Missouri). The climate must be quite pleasant there.
All the best. Richard
Martie: You found us! Yes, it's generally very nice. There are thunderstorms in the area today, so it's hot and humid. Should cool off this evening.
The minute I pulled this up, Martie, I saw Michigan! Illinois is not that far away. WOW. I had no clue you could order these from a Sears catalog. Unbelievable.
Martie: You are so right - Michigan is just a hop, skip and a jump away! Wouldn't it be great if we could still order our homes this way?
Do they put a red ribbon around it when the deliver it...
Love the house and you captureed it so well, I must say you live in a nice house
Martie: I wish this one was mine, but it's in the village close to my place. They should put a big red ribbon on it!
LOL! I'd never heard of that before but now I understand why a lot of houses look very similar.
Martie: Now you know the secret!
Did they come with instructions?
Martie: If you could order these today, and they DIDN"T come with instructions - I'd be in a world of hurt!
I hope we could still order one from the catalogue.
Martie: That would be wonderful, wouldn't it!
The 'American Dream'.
Nice image.
Martie: Thanks Marcie!
Great photo of a very good looking house.I like how you have the tree in the fore ground
Martie: Thanks Vintage. I couldn't get the tree out of the frame.
I thought this is the rabbit's house...lol
Martie: The rabbit should be so lucky (and so should I).
My Grandma had a house almost exactly like that. I believe the one we live in is a later "Sears" house, not entirely sure though.
Martie: It must be wonderful to know someone with a house like this. I can only imagine what it's like on the inside.
Impressive the visual impact that you have to see this picture.
Greetings
Martie: Thank you for the kind words Ricardo.
What a cute house, too. That's pretty cool, Martie.
Martie: Thanks Kay. Wish it were mine (at least sometimes I do).
