Big-Mac-O
We don't "do" fast food very often. However, for breakfast one morning we ran through McDonald's. We are in the final weeks of living on Okinawa and soon will be flying out to live in the US. To help us remember the things of daily life, the camera is not far away.

MMM Do you want fries with that?
Martie: And a drink too!
Trust me, you'll see plenty of these in the U.S.
Martie: I'm sure you are correct, but I'm equally sure that the US won't hold a candle to the quality of the product here nor the cleanliness of the facilities!
Even there in Japan it's MEGA MEGA MEGA! How embarrassing to me as an American to see this kind of super-size McDonald fare reaching worldwide. Killing people the world over! Sorry, Martie, but I hate this kind of American influence that is so unhealthy. (sigh)
Martie: No Ginnie - don't be sorry. I agree. But I do find it interesting how things move around the world.
Nice to see different presentations from other countries. The Mac logo is very discreet here. Nice catch Martie!
Martie: Thank you Richard. I love seeing how things translate from country to country.
great colors!
Martie: Thank you Teresa!
neat image. makes me hungry!
Martie: Would you like the "set" as it's known here (comes with sandwich, fries and drink).
when I was traveling many years ago, I used macdonalds bathrooms for washing myself. Its sad that these people have infiltrated everyday japan. mal
Martie: Mal - it is sad, but this keeps happening as our world becomes smaller. Sometimes progress isn't.
It was long ago that I set foot in one of these, yes to use the bathroom and than race outside,
I love the picture though, great find and colours. I agree with Ginnie and Mal.
Martie: The saying is you can't stop progress. But if this is progress then it needs to be stopped! But seeing the differences is a unique experience.
I had a coupple of burgers this weekend....but that was from Burger King...in beetween photo lectures...
Martie: You know what? I don't think I've seen a BK in Okinawa. We have McD's and Wendys, KFC and Pizza Hut. But I can't remember seeing a BK! Strange....
Fillet of fish for me Martie
I don't like fast food very much either Cool shot though
Martie: Tracy - thanks!!
Seems to me the viewers are aware of the impact of fried food
I wonder if the japanese don't have a word for 'NEW'. Great memento of the everyday.
Martie: Thanks Louis. I love seeing how things move from one culture to another.
Not a patch on decent fish and chips! We have the dreaded McDonalds and Burger King, but top of the nausea stakes has to be KFC...how disgusting is that?
Martie: Oh Bill - I can't believe this. I so agree with you, but here on Okinawa it is a special treat to purchase your family Christmas dinner from KFC (there are actually huge queues in front of them)!! It's often enlightening to see how one culture's customs translate to another. On Okinawa, Christmas didn't quite make it like you would expect!!
Whatever happened to Sashimi
Martie: Ah, but when sashimi is common place who wants it? Having "exotic" McD's is much more appealing to some!
